The lights from the car is dancing on the asphalt. The flat landscape is changing to something that looks like a science fiction movie. Factories, dust piles, smoke and flames are dominating the horizon. And there, by the road and the gas station, a neon sign lights up the night on a newly build hotel: “Paradise Lost”.

Paradise Lost was written in the 17th-century by the English poet John Milton. It is the story of the Fall of Man, where Satan is to poison the newly created Earth. It is also the story of sin and the way Adam and Eve reflect, behave and respond to it. Paradise Lost is the backdrop of this project, where I experience places that once would have been a Paradise, and which is now destroyed by human actions and behavior. The project looks at the people living in these areas, how they relate to their surroundings and how they manage to adopt.
